First published in Germany as Der Verfolder n 1961, this is the first UK printing of Weisenborn's thriller. Daniel Brendel is sitting at the wheel of a large hired car. It is three in the morning, and he is waiting to kill the former friend who betrayed him and many others to the Gestapo. His memory runs back to the hazardous work of the little resistance group to which they had all belonged, and his own later efforts to track down his betrayer...

Gunther Weisenborn was a leading figure in the German resistance against the Nazis. He was blacklisted by Goebbels and fled to Argentina, returning in 1937 to join the Red Orchestra resistance group. Arrested in 1942 he was imprisoned until his release by Russian troops in 1945.

Condition

A very good copy. There is light wear to the wrapper's edges and some spotted foxing to the page edges but otherwise remaining in strong readable condition.
