Montague's Disenchantment holds an important place in Great War literature as it was one of the first books to directly express criticism and disillusionment for the way the war was directed by the generals and military hierarchy, criticising the 'public school ethos' of both the military ruling class and the press. The book sixteen articles written by Montague (he had been a journalist before the war but enlisted aged 47 by dyeing his hair). He was against the war at it's onset but believed it was the right thing to fight, only to again feel his disappointment and disenchantment as the years rolled on.
Condition
Quite a rare first edition but this only in fair condition. The covers are sun faded, heaviest to the spine with a few splash marks. The inner binding is sound but the pages foxed throughout. It remains in good readable condition.
