Printing Details

This is a society portrait photograph, c1928, by the studio of Bassano, an English photographer who was a leading royal and high society portrait photographer in Victorian London. Although Alexander Bassano died in 1913, his studio continued creating photographs to his high standard throughout the first half of the twentieth century.

The photograph and mount measures approximately 32 × 25cm, the image itself being 20 × 15cm. The photograph has been laid down on card and then signed in pencil to the mount.

The sitter is Evelyn Johnson (b.1908), daughter of Col. Sir Robert A Johnson, soldier and Deputy Master of the Royal Mint.

Condition

Good condition. The mount suffers spotted foxing but the image remains an elegant picture.
