Lilian Smith's debut novel which first appeared in America in 1944. Strange Fruit deals with the then-forbidden and controversial theme of interracial romance. It focuses on the blossoming relationship between Tracy Deen, son of prominent white townspeople, and Nonnie, a beautiful and intelligent young Black woman whom he once rescued from an attack by white boys. However, it is a doomed relationship and has tragic consequences.
Condition
The book is in good condition. Some light tanning to the pages, a few patches of fading to the cloth binding, and some old tape residue to the endpapers but remaining in strong readable condition. The dustwrapper is chipped to the edges with slight loss but has not been price-clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
