A delightful copy of Ella Wheeler Wilcox's Poems of Pleasure, her collection of poems that capture the joy of living that was first published in 1888. This volume reproduced from a hand-illuminated copy by the binders Sangorski and Sutcliffe, with frontispiece by Frank C Pape with gilt and floral illuminated border, repeated to the title page with tipped in title sheet. This is followed by the poems, each with a printed decoration or illuminated initials. The book is printed on thick hand-made paper.
Condition
There is light rubbing to the brown cloth, and light scattered foxing and tanning throughout but this remains a very attractive copy of a sought after edition. Previous owner's inscription to ffep, dated 1912. The inner binding is secure.
