A fascinating study of the publishing industry in relation to women's magazines. The books starts with a brief history from the 17th, 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, with the longer look at the 1950s, 60s and 70s, this is followed by an examination of the actual business of selling and publishing the modern magazines.
Of the authors, Joan Barrell spent a life in women's magazines, she launched Honey and Fashion, and worked on the launch of Cosmopolitan. Brian Braithwaite also had a life in publishing magazines, and was a director of Queen magazine and launched the newly merged Harpers & Queen and Cosmopolitan in the UK.
