Hellmuth Weissenborn's Raven the Rascal was the third in a series of children's books published by The Acorn Press. It tells the story of Rascal, a young, exuberant, greedy raven who falls out of the nest, is found by a young lad, Peter, who tends to his needs as he plays havoc on the farm where he know lives, taunting the cat, eating the food etc. He meets a wise owl and then finds happiness with Beautiful Kaa and they end up living in an old fir tree.
Beautifully written and illustrated by Weissenborn, a German-born graphic artist who came to Britain in 1938. He was interned for six months on the Isle of Man, and then taught at Ravensbourne College of Art, Kent, and worked out of a studio in London, and founded The Acorn Press with his wife.
