A scarce early issue of The Britannia Magazine, the journal for the Cadets at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. The magazine was founded in 1884, and at this time in its history was published three times a year (Easter, Midsummer, and Christmas). This magazine contains photographs, an editorial, sports and recreation, cartoon, letters from cadets etc, and with sports results for the season. This issue contains an address by Vice-Admiral Ronald A Hopwood, house notes, natural history, rugby match reports results etc. The last three pages of text are the names of the officers, masters and full list of cadets, with a group shot of the Greynvile Term.
The previous owner appears to have written two of his fellow cadet's addresses to the ffep, one of whom (T C R Phillips of Godalming) was to perish of typhoid at the Naval Hospital in Malta the following year.
