A scarce early issue of The Britannia Magazine, the journal for the Cadets at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. The magazine was founded in 1884, and at this time in its history was published three times a year (Easter, Midsummer, and Christmas). This magazine contains photographs, an editorial, sports and recreation, cartoon, letters from cadets etc, and with sports results for the season. This issue mentions the cadets' production of Aladdin, a good-bye to HMS Pomone, prizes, the regatta results, and results for boxing, fencing, bayonets, rugby (with team photo) etc. The last three pages of text are the names of the officers, masters and full list of cadets, with a group shot of the Exmouth Term.
Condition
Fair to good condition. The covers are worn and marked, and the text has detached from the covers. However, the inner binding is secure and the contents remain in strong readable condition. Cadet's name to the front cover (Cadet Simons).
