Printing Details

First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 2214cm, 200pp.

A rare first edition. One of the most prolific authors and investigators on the subject of ghosts of the early 20th century, Elliott O'Donnell investigated numerous hauntings, claiming to have visited thousands of localities and been eyewitness to hundreds of ghosts and various paranormal phenomena. In this volume he tells over 50 tales with particular attention to the subject of trees and forests and of the phantoms that haunt them, and of ghostly legends founded upon historical fact.

Contents include: Herne's Oak, An Oak of Ill Omen, Haunted Ash Trees, The Haunted Christmas Tree, The Evil Garden, The Ghosts of Whittlebury Forest, The Phantom Horseman of Bickford House, Silky and her Ghost Dog, Marietta the Werewolf, Apple Trees and the Supernatural, A Painter's Occult Experience, and much more.

Condition

The book itself is in good, solid condition, with clean pages and secure binding. There is foxing to the pages' top edge, and a smaller amount of foxing to the page edges. The dustwrapper has an area of loss to the rear panel as shown in the photos, and some scuffing and edgewear but otherwise remains attractive. It has not been price-clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
