Printing Details
This is a collection of five original photographs, four with negatives, and a 1930s postcard of the Graf Zeppelin's visit to London in 1932.
The five original shots each measure 8.5 × 14.5cm and are in black and white. They have 1932 pencilled on the back to each. Two of the shots show the cockpit / gondola with a crowd thronging around it, and with what appear to be Boy Scouts in the foreground. A third is the landed airship from more of a distance, again with a large crowd. The tip of the blimp is just out of view to the left hand side. The remaining two shots are from the ground of an airborne airship.
The negative show the three groundbased shots, and one of the airborne shots and are the same size as the photos.
Finally, a German postcard (unused) shows the airship passing over the mast and rigging of Großherzogin Elisabeth, a German siling ship, the crew are skylarking on the rigging and waving to the cockpit. The caption reads "Luftschiff Graf Zeppelin überfliegt auf seiner Ostseefahrt das Schulschiff Großherzogin Elisabeth" (trans: Airship 'Graf Zeppelin' flies over the training ship 'Großherzogin Elisabeth' on its Baltic Sea voyage).
Condition
The photographs are in good condition, some light creasing but no finger marks. The negatives are in fair condition only, and the postcard is in good, unused condition.
