An exceptionally rare first catalogue for Miu Miu's upcycled designs, featuring the first eighty dresses from their first collection. The introductory text reads "A special collection of upcycled vintage pieces. A selection of one-off designs built around precious, anonymous finds, dating from the thirties to the eighties, carefully sourced from vintage clothing stores and markets worldwide. Once restored, pieces are re-fashioned and finished with signature Miu Miu embroideries and embellishments. Each piece is entirely unique. All are finished by hand. Re-imagined through the Miu Miu lens, the life of garments worn and loved in the past is extended, renewed and sustained, enriching the lives of the women who will wear them by return."
The book consists of high-quality professionally shot photographs of each dress in its original state and, on the opposing page, in its redesigned final state. There are several double spread close ups showing the detailed craftsmanship of the stitchwork and embroidery. The start of the book features twelve black and white photographs of the work in progress at the Miu Miu atelier. A brief description accompanies each dress, describing the original garment and the refashioning.
This book was published privately by Miu Miu, and has never been on general release, or for sale on the open market.
Condition
This copy is in very good condition, bar some light wear to the calico corners and a little surface marking to the rear cover. The contents are in excellent condition.
