Published on behalf of the Lewis Carroll Society. This monograph explores a notable, parallel biographical episode in the lives of Charles Dodgson and Alice Liddell: their respective travels to Paris. Dodgson was famously an reluctant traveler who rarely left Britain—his only major continental trip being his famous journey to Russia in 1867 with Henry Liddon (passing through Paris on the return). Alice Liddell, by contrast, visited Paris on multiple occasions with the Liddell family as part of their grand European travels.
