This pamphlet brings together seven of Dodgson's characteristic, sharp-witted "Letters to the Editor" published in local Oxford and national press during his long tenure as Student and Mathematical Lecturer at Christ Church, Oxford.
From the editor's foreword, "The 'scandals' occurred over a period of sixteen years between 1874 and 1890, and they ranged from outbreaks of near-rioting to questions of procedure that even then caused little more than the raising of an outsider's eyebrow. But Dodgson took them all seriously, thought them all out with his usual regard for principle and logic, and replied with his usual lucidity and force, employing his full amoury of argument from scorn to sweet reason".
