Set in the isolated, snowbound ski town of Silver Creek, Alberta, the story follows Sam Hunt, a Native American man struggling to leave behind a troubled past and integrate into the local community. The town's quiet existence is shattered when a series of brutal, horrific murders takes place.
As suspicions turn toward Sam due to prejudice and circumstantial evidence, the true culprit emerges as a malevolent, ancient shape-shifting entity from Native American lore—the Trickster (specifically inspired by the Kwakwaka'wakw or Haida mythology of the Pacific Northwest). Unleashed by resentment and human weakness, the creature feeds on fear, chaos, and deception, terrorizing the town and forcing Sam to confront both the supernatural monster and the dark forces within human nature.
