Here are two first editions by T H White, both are hardbacks in dustwrapper and published by Jonathan Cape. The Age of Scandal, subtitled 'An Excursion through a Minor Period' (1950), and The Scandal Monger (1952).

Both books cover the era between the Age of Reason and the Romantic Revival, focusing on the scandalous high-society figures, duels, mistresses, public executions, royal gossip, and upper-class eccentricities of the period. In both volumes, White draws heavily on real contemporary letters and memoirs—most notably those of Horace Walpole—stitching them together with his own humorous, opinionated, and notoriously unscholarly commentary.

Condition

Whilst both books remain in strong readable condition, they were previous owned by a smoker and have a residual odour of tobacco. The dustwrappers have tanned spine, with The Age of Scandal having a small area of loss to the spine as well, and with chipping / tanning to the edges. Contents also a little tanned but bindings intact.
