The exhibition book to accompany the Tate's major posthumous retrospective of Sir Cedric Morris (1889–1982), held in 1984. The book is both a biography of Morris, covering his early work in Paris, his involvement with the 7&5 Society, his distinct approach to post-Impressionism and Surrealism, and his life at Benton End—the home of the East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing, which he co-founded with Arthur Lett-Haines. It also details 111 exhibits featured in the exhibition, including landscape paintings, portraits (such as his famous 1941 portrait of a young Lucian Freud), and his signature botanical paintings. The book features 40 colour plates along with numerous black-and-white illustrations documenting his artwork and life.
