This copy has been signed and dedicated by Robyn Beeche to the title page. Robyn Beeche (1945—2015) was an Australian-born photographer whose career famously bridged two entirely contrasting worlds: the high-concept, gender-bending counter-culture of 1980s London with a deliberate blurring of strict binary lines in fashion and subcultures working closely with Vivienne Westwood, Zandra Rhodes, Mary Quant, Bill Gibb, Leigh Bowery, and Divine, and the vibrant, sacred traditions of rural India.
Celebrating Krishna is a visual and textual exploration of the sacred landscape of Vraja (the region around Vrindavan, India), where Lord Krishna is believed to have spent his childhood. Produced in collaboration with scholar and spiritual leader Shrivatsa Goswami, the book documents the sacred geography of the area (Vraja and Van Yatra), the ritual calendar (Krishna's Daily Calendar & Festivals), and the living theatre (Ras Lila). Illustrated throughout with Beeche's photography.
Condition
Both book and dustwrapper are in very good condition. There is a very little light wear to the wrapper's edges and a vertical crease to the ffep but the main body of text has clean pages and secure binding.
