This is an original fashion colour illustration, showing a smart suited lady with a small dog. It dates from the late thirties. The paper measures approx. 28 × 38 cm, and is in pen, ink, and watercolour / gouache.
It shows a lady wears an chic, structured daytime skirt suit or tailleur in a sophisticated light grey, and the jacket has the definitive padded, squared shoulders of 1939, a nipped-in waist, a multi-button front closure, and a fashionable vertical pinstriped detailing on the pockets and lapels. The skirt features a clean, panelled A-line cut hitting just below the knee.
The artist has used a royal purple to coordinate the prominent bow on her wide-brimmed straw tilt hat, her leather evening gloves, her pocket square, and her elegant, low-heeled court shoes. She hold a lead to which is attached a rather charming, scruffy terrier.

The artwork is in very good condition, with some unevenness to the edges and a few small pinholes to the top corners.
