This is an original fashion colour illustration, showing a lady wearing a summer dress. It dates from the late thirties. The paper measures approx. 33 × 41 cm, and is in pencil and watercolour / gouache. The background has been shaded with a light blue, and with a blue ribbon-like form behind the model.
The illustration shows the wonderfully detailed dress. The dress features a button-front bodice with a crisp, contrasting white collar line, with a blue sailing ship motif repeated to it. She carries a wide-brimmed sun hat and is wearing leisure shoes of the age. The artist has given the model a deep sun tan
