The novel is set in the late 5th Century B.C. during the brutal, protracted conflict between Athens and Sparta. The title is taken from Aristophanes' play The Birds but belies that this is a rather gritty exploration of the Peloponnesian War.
Condition
A very good copy. There is foxing to the page edges and margins but the book remains in strong readable condition.
