A series of witty clerihews (named after the author of this book, Edmund Clerihew Bentley) about famous people, from jane Austen to Cervantes and from Karl Marx to Sir Humphrey Davy. Each clerihew illustrated by G K Chesterton.
The previous owner has written a couple of his own to the rear endpaper in 1940, the subjects being Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin.
Condition
A good readable copy. There is light spotting and foxing throughout, and a little straining to the binding but it remains secure. The dustwrapper also has some light foxing and is faded to the spine.
