A historical and documentary narrative centred on the Decembrist Revolt of 1825 in Imperial Russia. The Decembrists were a group of Russian military officers and noblemen who led an uprising against Tsar Nicholas I on December 26, 1825. They were influenced by Western liberal ideas following the Napoleonic Wars and sought to abolish serfdom and establish a constitutional monarchy or a republic.
