Published by The American University in Cairo's Art and Archaeology Research Papers, this is a study of the craved domes of Cairo. Illustrated throughout in black and white, the book begins with the origins of Cairene dome decoration, through it's development in the 8th to the 14th centuries, further decorations, the more co-ordinated decorations and structures, arabesque and zig-zag, refinement, and finally to the failure to development and maintain. A fascinating study.
