Printing Details

Small hardback in green pebbled cloth with gilt titling to spine. 14 × 8.5cm, 288pp.

Published as Volume 2 from George MacDonald's 'Works of Fancy and Imagination'. An early printing of a collection of MacDonald's poetry, including 1. Poems, 2. The Gospel Women, 3. A Book of Sonnets, 4. Organ Songs. The title poem, The Disciple, is a lengthy narrative semi-autobiographical poem tracing a spiritual journey between faiths.

Condition

Good for age. The green cloth is rubbed to the spine ends, joints and corners. The pages a bit age-toned. There are some light marginal marks and light underlining in pencil but these do not affect the text. The inner binding is secure though with just a little movement but otherwise, this is a strong readable copy of an early edition
