Fifth edition. Limited to 19 copies on Holland paper, this copy unnumbered but with publisher's printed floral device (Il a ete tire de cet ouuvrage: Dix-neuf exemplaires sur Hollande, numerotes de 1—19. Justification du Tirage: [floral device].) Hardback, rebound in quarter leather binding, gilt titling to spine and marbled boards. Top edge gilt. Original covers bound in with the book. 18.5 × 12cm, 217pp. French text.

Belgian symbolist poet Emile Verhaeren's book of poetry containing Les Villes Tentaculaires (trans. The Tentacular Towns, or The Great Cities, first published in 1895) together with his work of 1893, Les Campagnes hallucinees (trans. The Hallucinated Fields). The theme of both titles is modern urban life and the urban sprawl's transformation of the countryside.

Condition

Fair to good condition. The leather is rubbed with the front joint open. Some small loss to the marbled paper of the upper board along the base. The inner binding is secure, the pages tanned to the margins throughout. Occasional pencil annotations to the margin and index though these are few and far between.
