c. 1840. A framed and glazed hand-coloured wood engraving of Yarmouth in Norfolk, with Nelson's Monument in the background. The framed measures approx 31 × 27cm, the mount's aperture is 21 × 15.5cm. It is framed in a Hogarth frame, with gilt decoration to the raised mouldings.
An attractive engraving, taken from William Finden's The Ports, Harbours, Watering-Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain (published 1836–1842). It shows the fisherfolk going about their business (mending nets etc), the estuary and with the Britannia Monument to Horation Nelson to the right with a number of people surrounding it.
Condition
Very good condition, some light tanning to the edges but professionally framed and a decorative item.
