Anna Paola was an abandoned baby. Her autobiography 'Along Came A Spider' tells of the strength and resilience of the human spirit. In her sad yet entertaining journey, she meets a host of memorable characters, including Dudley Moore—with whom she had a long and close friendship until his untimely death in 2002—and Hephzibah Menuhin. It is also a love story. She was a pianist (in the golden age of Soho), composer, music therapist and painter, and her story is proof of "Nature over Nurture". On reading her manuscript, William Boyd said of it, "I think it is a remarkable piece of work, largely because your voice comes through the narrative of your life so freshly and with a compelling honesty. You write with tremendous charm that radiates off the page... It seems guileless—and almost innocent."
Condition
Good. Whilst the book remains in a good readable condition, the half-title page with the signature is heavily tanned, leaving the shape where a photograph had been loosely laid in. The page edges are also a little tanned but the main body of text is clean and well-bound.
