Subtitled 'an attempt to determine what Limits, if any, there are to the Transforming Influence of Education', this book by educationalist Edmond Holmes discusses explores the concept of the soul and its existence, as well as the relationship between the soul and the body. Holmes believes the soul is not a religious or dogmatic concept but a vital, living presence within each person and sees traditional schooling as suppressive of the inner life, creativity, and individuality of the child and teachers are urged to look beyond rote learning and discipline, and instead become guides who awaken the inner life of their pupils.
Condition
A poor copy of a rare first edition. The spine is shattered, with creasing to the corners of the covers. The contents remain in readable condition, with gentle handling.
