First edition, second printing. Hardback, blue cloth spine with paper title label, brown cloth covered boards. Top edge gilt, fore-edge untrimmed. 22.5 × 15cm, 144pp.

An anthology of Great War poetry published to aid the Queen Mary Needlework Guild, and as Baroness Orczy states in her foreword "This book... is for every individual woman and girl in Great Britain who today is bearing so heroically, so uncomplainingly, her own share of Great Britain's burden in this Great War." Contributors include Nesbit, G K Chesterton, Owen Seaman, Alfred Noyes, Eden Philpotts, Barry Pain, P B Clayton and many more. With occasional illustration.

Condition

This copy is in good condition for age, some rubbing and bumping to the binding and some tanning to the pages but perfectly readable. Bookplate of Anne Powell, the anthologist, historian and author to the front pastedown.
