The memoirs of J H Mapleson (1830–1901), an opera impresario and a leading figure in the development of opera production and of the careers of singers in London and New York during the years 1848 to 1888. Volume one with a frontispiece portrait of the author.

Condition

A good reading set. There is mottling to the blue cloth, not very heavy but noticeable, mostly to the rear board of volume 2. The inner bindings are starting to weaken but no pages are loose, some scattered foxing and marking to the pages throughout but remaining in strong readable condition. Previous owner's name to ffep.
