Shri Purohit Swami was an Indian mystic and poet, and close friend of W.B. Yeats. He first published this translation of The Geeta in the 1935 and it remains the finest interpretation of the text for a Western audience, offering a beautiful rendering of the original into English from the Sanskrit and conveying a clear and truthful impression of the text.
Condition
Good condition. The blue cloth boards are tanned and rubbed, with some surface marking and abrasions. The contents are in better condition, with some age-toning to the pages but remaining in strong readable condition. A previous owner has handwritten "p.83" to the ffep and added a marginal annotation to that page marking out a particular passage. Bookseller's stamp also to the ffep, which reads "The Oxford Book Depot, Oxford Street, Secunderabad"
