Printing Details

First edition. Hardback, bound in the original tan cloth with printed titling to spine and upper board. 22.5 × 14cm, 132pp.

A rather charming account of a man cycling through Britain, published in the second year of World War II. He cycles around the Downs, Shropshire, the Cotswolds and the Black Mountains. The book is illustrated throughout with woodcuts. The author was a commercial artist who always cycled, he never owned a car, and became fascinated by the wagons he saw on his tours, publishing The Farm Waggons of England and Wales (1969).

Condition

A decent copy. Some light wear to the cloth binding and a hint of a lean to the spine but otherwise remaining in strong readable condition.
