The first issue of In Ruhleben Camp, a magazine written and produced by the internees in the early years of the Great War. Ruhleben was a camp situated close to Berlin and held Allied civilian internees who were caught in Germany at the outbreak of the First World War. The magazine reflects the sporting, cultural and other interests of the prisoners, and judging by the advertisements, quite a society developed with tailors, hairdressers, shoemakers etc
Condition
Poor. The covers are detached and both front and back have significant loss. The main body of text is in delicate but readable condition, pages tanned, some marginal loss and rusting to the stapled binding.
