Scottish journalist and novelist was commissioned to write a series of books between 1833 and 1835 called Turner's Annual Tour, of which this was the first. The book is a tour along the Loire and is illustrated with twenty one superb engravings by J M W Turner (title page vignette and twenty full page, tissue guarded plates).
Condition
The leather binding is rubbed to the joints and edges, with surface abrasions. The front hinge is open, but the inner binding is secure, if showing few signs of straining in places. There is light to moderate foxing to the plates (mostly to the margins) and tissue guards, with a little associated offsetting but otherwise this remains a nice copy.
