"Die Vielgeliebte Frau" (The Well-Beloved Woman) is a biographical study of the French novelist George Sand (Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin).
Rather than a standard narrative, the book explores Sand’s life and "inner circle" through a curated collection of letters and historical documents. It provides a window into her legendary relationships with the great artistic minds of the 19th century, including:
Frédéric Chopin (her long-term partner)
Franz Liszt
Heinrich Heine
The text is accompanied by ten mezzotint illustrations of these figures, framing Sand not just as a writer, but as the gravitational centre of a brilliant European intellectual movement.
Condition
Good condition. There is tanning to the pages, most of which are unopened (uncut at the top edge). However, the inner binding is secure and the book remains in strong readable condition.
Books are currently zero-rated for duty (as of April 2026), so the price shown is the price you pay.
