Printing Details

First UK edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 20.5 × 13.5cm, 432pp.

From the dustwrapper, "The setting is a delightful, normal and happy American town—Sawyersville, USA. The characters are Ponce de Leon, Mike (Tiger) McDrew and Surcher, among others. Yet looking behind the mask of respectability one stumbles on a world of violence and insanity. The chain of events following young Ponce's momentous and unprecedented discovery at the very beginning of the book shake the very foundation of things. For Ponce discovers a murder." This book was the basis of the Roger Vadim film of the same name, scripted by Gene Rodenberry, and starring Rock Hudson, Angie Dickinson and Telly Savalas.
