First edition. Hardback, bound in the original green cloth with gilt titling and design to spine and upper board. 19 × 12cm, 383pp.

This copy has a photograph of the poet tipped in to the front pastedown with his signature underneath, and this copy has the original receipt for the book's registration at Stationer's Hall in January 1890.

A long poem from James Flitton, which is described in the preface thus "the author of this poem has endeavoured to place before the present generation one or two phases of English life and custom 'sixty years ago', when the machinery of society was not at such high pressure, and life was living to exist and enjoy a happy and rational state of being..."

Condition

Good condition. The book is in strong readable condition, but the front hinge is cracked and a little loose though not detached.
