First editions, four volumes (complete). Hardbacks with later title labels to spine, bound in brown cloth. Each 18 × 11cm. Vol 1: xii + 321pp, 36pp ads. Vol 2: 12pp ads, xv + 345pp, + prospectus. Vol 3: 16pp ads, xix + 327pp. Vol 4: 18pp ads, xx + 313pp.
Thomas Moore's History of Ireland, published between 1835 and 1846, as part of Lardner's Cabinet Cyclopaedia covers from the first inhabitants and visitors (Celts, Phoenicians etc) through to the mid-seventeenth century. Each volume has a printed title and an engraved title page.
Fair / Good condition. Volume two is quite heavily battered with the spine loose at the front joint and the front board very nearly detached. Volume four is stamped from the library of the Christian Brothers of Dublin. Otherwise, they are in good readable condition. Each volume has some degree of rubbing and fraying to the cloth, the pages have occasional foxing and tanning but the inner bindings are secure.
