A collection of twenty-five dialogues from Juan Luis Vives, with a lengthy introduction by Foster Watson on his importance. Vives (1493–1540) was a Spanish scholar and Renaissance humanist. His beliefs on the soul, insight into early medical practice, and perspective on emotions, memory and learning earned him the title of the "father" of modern psychology.

A good copy. The covers are stained and dulled but the contents in good, clean condition. There is some foxing to the tissue-guarded frontispiece but the main body of text is in good order.
