First edition, first printing hardabck in dustwrapper. 19 × 12.5cm, 276pp.
A Difficult Young Man is the second in the author's "Langton Tetralogy". The novel continues the story (from The Cradboard Crown) of the Langtons, an Anglo-Australian family based in Melbourne, who have never truly come to terms with their place in Australian society. Like the first novel in the series, this book is narrated by Guy Langton and concerns the younger son Dominic, a man who ideals and actions are considered both eccentric and unacceptable to the Melbourne society of the time.
The book is in good condition, with some light foxing to the page edges and a small biro mark to the ffep. The dustwrapper is edgeworn with small closed tears to the corners and joints but has not been price-clipped.
