This is the first volume of British and Foreign Sports, and contains 50 high quality etchings and engravings (2 vignettes, engraved title, and full page plates) showing various items of interest to the early Victorian sportsman, including hunting scenes and dogs, horse racing, shooting, the Persian greyhound, birdlife, one on yachting etc etc and after a variety of artists such as Landseer, Henry Alken, Newton Fielding and so on. The prints are accompanied by a series of writing on the sports.
A good copy. As mentioned the book has been rebound with a new spine and endpapers. the original pages suffer some foxing but are mostly clean and with a water stain to the top left of the engraved title page.
