This copy has been signed and dedicated by Norman Scarfe to the half-title to Morton Cohen, the pre-eminent Lewis Carroll scholar. Also tipped in is a handwritten letter from Norman Scarfe to Professor Cohen mentioning Lewis Carroll's photography and the re-issue of his own book 'Assault Division' which was about the infantry division he served in on D-Day.
Norman Scarfe explores place names, the Sutton Hoo ship burial, the coming of Christianity, and the abbey at Bury St Edmunds, concluding with an evocative study of five Suffolk places: Southwold, Dunwich, Yoxford, and Wingfield and Fressingfield.
