The Hunting of the Snark (Signed copy)
Special limited edition, signed by the artist Frank Hinder
First, special edition, limited to 100 copies only, this being no 5. Hardback in plastic wrapper, bound in the original cream cloth with gilt titling and design to spine and upper board. 25 × 20cm, 64pp.
This copy has been signed and numbered (5/100) to the ffep by Frank Hinder and also with a specially commissioned bookplate (initialled and numbered) and stamped from the First International Lewis Carroll Conference. This copy comes from the library of Professor Morton N Cohen, a pre-eminent Lewis Carroll scholar and founder member of the Lewis Carroll Society. There is no signature from Prof Cohen but his name has been pencilled on a label to a wallet the book comes in, and I will provide a signed statement to this effect.
This edition of The Hunting of the Snark was commissioned for the First International Lewis Carroll Conference held at Oxford in July 1989. The Australian artist Frank Hinder has contributed ten full page drawings, an illustrated title and smaller drawings to the introduction, as well as writings on the manifest and a poem, an introduction is contributed by John Paull. A lovely copy.
This copy is in excellent condition.
